The world's most famous ice skating rink shimmers beneath what must be the most impressive urban tree, perhaps in the world, and the shop windows in the Center and along Fifth Avenue must be seen to be believed. Crowds queue to see the holiday spectacular at Radio City Music Hall and Times Square is decked out in green and red. And all America comes to check it out.

Sean Henninger, the owner of Times Square Bistro & Pizzeria in Walker's Point, is bartering a large pizza for a pound of LEGO. His plan is to build two working, full-sized clocks to display in the eatery.

New Year's Eve is a Super Bowl of sorts for barflies. In Milwaukee, where bars can stay open all night to ring in the new year, it can be a bit of an "amateur hour," leading many to stay home and await the start of the new year with a quiet night on the couch, or entertaining close friends and tolerable family members. In this week's Sound-off feature, we'd like to know what you did on New Year's Eve.

Spending the evening at home gave me a sober moment to see how the rest of the world was ushering in the new year. And best I could tell, the scene at Times Square was more frigid than even Milwaukee.
