An employee at the neighboring Palermo Villa confirmed that The Dogs Bollocks, 2321 N. Murray Ave., is indeed closed for good. The English-style pub and restaurant has black paper on the windows and the phone is disconnected.

The East Side's new Dogs Bollocks, 2321 N. Murray Ave., is British, not Irish, though owner Tony Wright says it's a distinction that's too often confused. "The Irish have done a great job of exporting their culture, but the Brits haven't done it as much," he says. As an English export himself, he hopes to help change that.

British pub and grill The Dogs Bollocks is set to open at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 17, according to a sign (or should I say a placard?) in the window at 2321 N. Murray Ave.

Tony Wright, owner of Shorewood's BritInn, is adding a touch more British flavor to the East Side. Wright plans to open The Dogs Bollocks in the space formerly occupied by Elliot's Bistro, 2321 N. Murray Ave., in April.
