If you follow local music you can't possibly have missed that Juniper Tar released a new record in recent weeks. "Since Before" is now available and it was worth the wait. The vinyl version is an elaborate package befitting the powerful music inside. We got a chance to ask singer and guitarist Jason Mohr about it.

When Nick Lowe initially took the stage Thursday night at the Turner Hall Ballroom, he didn't say a word. Starting off the show alone with a guitar, he launched into two numbers. Now in his early 60s, Lowe has been performing live for over 45 years and he clearly believes in letting his music do most of the talking. However, when Lowe did talk, he was remarkably engaging.

There are reunion gigs and there are reunion gigs. It's certainly no secret anymore that Milwaukee's great Semi-Twang has reunited for some gigs and even a new record in recent years. But when the band - featuring some of the city's top musical talent, including John and Mike Sieger, Bob Jennings, Bob Schneider and guitarists Mike Hoffmann and Jason Klagstad - takes the stage at Turner Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 29, it mark a reunion of another kind.

Charles Bradley has the type of golden voice that seems almost exclusive to his generation. While Bradley is a good singer, his strong suit is his ability to howl. In his show Friday night at the Turner Hall Ballroom, Bradley evoked memories of James Brown not only with this soulful voice, but also with his ability to move around the stage.
