Milwaukee's best other Asian, 2009: Umami Moto
For the second straight year, OnMilwaukee.com readers picked Umami Moto as their favorite other Asian restaurant (not strictly Chinese, Japanese or Thai). OnMilwaukee.com's Amy Schubert called the menu at Umami Moto "simple, precise and delicious" and adds that the service is "prompt, attentive and uses a team approach without being intrusive."

Charro adds value to trend on Milwaukee Street
The menu at Charro Restaurante, 729 N. Milwaukee Street, is is a compilation of Cuban, Mexican and Spanish flavors. That's not a surprise when you consider the name, which comes from an Elvis Presley western. The decor is trendy, which you'd expect from a venue run by veterans Tom Wackman, Omar Shaikh and Michael Polaski. The surprise is the quality of the food and the reasonable prices.

Milwaukee kicks off a new year with the Maestro
Calling all tequila tasters; there's a new player in the game. From its summer 2008 birth in a distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, Maestro Dobel has since made its way to the States and is making its mark as a luxurious clear-aged tequila. Dobel is produced in limited quantities and is currently only available in California, Illinois, Georgia and Wisconsin.
