Craig Juntunen's personal experience with adoption led him to take a closer look into the process. What he found unnerved and motivated him to voice his concerns across the nation with "Stuck," a feature-length documentary he produced through his Both Ends Burning Campaign. The campaign facilitates adoption reform dedicated to stopping the decline of adoption and the ensuing increase in orphaned and abandoned children.

When a child is adopted, he or she both gains and loses more than most biological children do at a young age. On Saturday, April 13 an organization called Wise Up will offer a parent-and-child conference on adoption that will be held at the Bishop O'Connor Center in Madison.

"Boy, I hate people." I hear that all the time from people who work in animal welfare. I disagree. I understand why they feel that way. When you do this work, you hear stories all the time that make you angry. Abuse and neglect. Domestic violence. Well-meaning stupidity. Even the simple failure to stick with commitments: "I'm moving out of town, so I need to surrender my 12-year-old dog." These stories would make anyone mad, let alone someone who cares enough about animals to have chosen shelter work over other, almost certainly better-paying, options.
