This afternoon, the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) announced the nominees for its 35th annual WAMI Awards. The show itself will be held at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) on Sunday, April 19 at Turner Hall Ballroom, with a nominee celebration several weeks before on Sunday, March 29 at Papa's Social Club.

Over the last year, the band often put a little groove to its step when treading familiar turf with its own soulful, lyrical twist, especially on its latest album, "Cryin' Mercy."

Altered Five's second disc shows a band earning its reputation

Milwaukee's Altered Five knows that blues is about the vibe and for the group's members - bassist Mark Solveson, singer Jeff "JT" Taylor, keyboardist Ray Tevich, drummer Scott Schroedl and guitarist Jeff Schroedl - that feeling is a mix of traditional blues with a healthy dose of R&B and other styles. The band officially releases its second CD with a gig this week.
