Northwestern Mutual and Couture high-rise plans both move forward

Both Northwestern Mutual and The Couture took steps forward today with Downtown development plans. Northwestern Mutual said it is looking to build a mixed use real estate space immediately west of its Downtown campus, while the County Board of Supervisors approved the lakefront development proposal for the 44-story Couture high-rise.

The Milwaukee Common Council voted to hold over its decision on a Milwaukee Streetcar system at a meeting held Tuesday morning at City Hall. The proposal now moves to the next common council meeting, on Jan. 21.

Northwestern Mutual tower construction hiring is on schedule

Northwestern Mutual is on track to meet commitments for construction of the Northwestern Mutual Tower and Commons, according to the first quarterly report submitted by Prism Technical to the city of Milwaukee. The company has promised to tap small business enterprises (SBEs) for 25 percent of the project costs and utilize city residents through the Resident Preference Program (RPP) for 40 percent of the hours worked on the project.
