It feels like not a week goes by without someone posting something about how Facebook's invading everyone's privacy, spying on your browser history, etc., ad nauseum. (These posts are usually made on Facebook, by the way.) I understand the generic concern over the Orwellian slippery slope, but it doesn't take me too long to re-assess and arrive back at my old conclusion: Who cares?

I've noticed the new Lexus spots. They're well done, creative and stand out in the current clutter of Christmas and holiday hoopla. But, Lexus has it wrong.

At the annual Board of Governors meeting, NBA owners decided to allow advertising patches to be placed on uniforms. I love this idea.

For years now, the ever-popular television series "Mad Men" has entertained, delighted and revealed some fundamental truths about advertising. For the most part, we in the advertising world are impressed with the American Movie Channel's portrayal of our day-to-day. And I believe they've done it again.

I've been hesitant to write this blog for the following reasons: 1. I love the brands I'm talking about and want them to succeed. 2. It goes against my mom's advice of, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." But my frustration level is at orange and I may need a little venting.

Depending on the medium, it can take some very clever creative to inspire a positive reaction from a simple advertisement. Usually, it's a challenge just make any kind of impression, but when a company's single fixed billboard can endure for 40 plus years and develop an actual cult following, you know you've hit PR gold.
