OnMedia: Do you fast-forward past the ads?
The DVR technology makes it easy to zip past the ads and just watch the program. But it looks like lots of us are still watching the commercials.

Hands-on with the new iPhone
Here's just one Milwaukeean's review of this amazing new gadget. Even with its significant shortcomings, the iPhone is the far and away the best phone/pda of the many I've owned since 1997.

3G iPhone mission somewhat accomplished
It took about two and a half hours of standing in scattered rain, but at about 9:45 a.m., I officially walked out of the AT&T store near Southridge with a new iPhone. Unfortunately, as I write this, it's not working.

15 hours till iPhone
If all goes smoothly, I'll have a new 3G iPhone in about 15 hours, when what some nerds call the "Jesus Phone" officially goes on sale at 8 a.m. Friday morning.

Nostratarnoff? Grading my iPhone predictions
This morning, I made nine predictions about the 3G iPhone that was announced by Apple's Steve Jobs today. Looks like I went 6-9.

FWIW: My WWDC iPhone predictions
Steve Jobs takes the podium at the Apple Developers Conference in about two hours, and it's widely expected that he'll announce a new iPhone. Since everyone and their uncle have weighed in with their predictions, I will, too.

This week in the editorial office, we're talking about wireless Apple accessories, cool recycled bags and totes, a Springsteen book, some great songs and a provocative, politically-driven local TV show.

To Leopard and back
This summer, I blogged about my experiences with my (then) new MacBook and the tech support debacle that ensued when my wireless capabilities went kaplooey.

A local, national and international Mac tech support debacle
On June 3, I bought a new MacBook to replace my trusty but ancient iBook from 2002. Along with it, I bought a new Linksys Wireless-N router, which replaced my "B" router from the old computer. Out of the box, something seemed fishy.

Brothers and sisters, please rise...
A couple months back, I was sitting at a bar on a tiny island off the coast of Belize. It was 4:30 on a perfect, 85-degree afternoon, when a local guy approached our group with a large box of cakes. He was 30-something, and his 3x2-foot box held about 60 "personal-sized" cakes: key lime cake, carrot cake, turtle cheesecake, pound cake, several cookies and his specialty -- chocolate macaroon cake with fresh coconut frosting.

Appleholics Anonymous: I want an iPhone
I know I'm sucker. I've owned (or been the child of someone who owned) a Mac since 1985. I've suffered through all of Apple's crappy customer service, their "Genius Bars," their insanely high prices and most of all, their finicky computers for two decades.

Orchards provide apples and much fun
There are at least 100 apple orchards in Wisconsin, and we've got a list of the ones closest to home. Although apples, whether it be picking them or just picking them up, steal the show at these farms, other autumn must-haves help make a perfect afternoon.

First vintage bubbles up from new Wisconsin winery
When life gives you apples, make apple champagne. At least that's what Charles McGonegal has done with Aeppel Treow Winery, which opened in September on the Brightonwoods Orchard, a few miles east of Burlington in Kenosha County.
