First hands-on impressions of new iPhone 3GS
Yes, I'm that guy. The guy who stood in line to get the iPhone 3G the day it came out a year ago, and the guy who stood in line to get the new iPhone 3GS this morning. Unlike last year, this line only had four people in it at 7 a.m., and I was in and out of the AT&T store on S. 76th St. by 7:15 a.m.

15 hours till iPhone
If all goes smoothly, I'll have a new 3G iPhone in about 15 hours, when what some nerds call the "Jesus Phone" officially goes on sale at 8 a.m. Friday morning.

Steve Jobs takes the podium at the Apple Developers Conference in about two hours, and it's widely expected that he'll announce a new iPhone. Since everyone and their uncle have weighed in with their predictions, I will, too.

A healthier work force or a smaller one?
City workers are more careful and healthier. Or it could be that a recent report noting fewer workers compensation claims due to injuries and illnesses in 2006 compared to 2005 could be attributed to the fact that there are fewer workers to make those claims.

This is not your father's Ma Bell
On one hand, you could say that the American telecommunications industry has come full circle. In the old days, you had THE phone company, AT&T, also known as Ma Bell. In 1984, Ma Bell was broken up into seven regional Baby Bells.
