Sure, Milwaukee is world-famous for its prowess in beer making, but our city is gaining notoriety for its cocktail scene, too. We don't want to stop you from stocking your reception bar with Lakefront or Miller, but why not give props to our talented bartenders by featuring a local signature drink at your wedding (or another festive occasion), too?

At first, Aric Weston, who pours at Branded and The Yard at the Iron Horse Hotel, didn't want to conduct this interview. But in the end, he came around, bought us whiskeys, introduced us to delicious Italian Amarena Fabbri cherries and gave great responses.

When I saw a list of suggested drinks to enhance the experience of seeing Monty Python's "Spamalot," which rolls into the Milwaukee Theatre on Friday and Saturday, I was immediately horrified. Who would make a cocktail with Spam?! Then I looked more closely and realized this bevy of bevy ideas boasts nearly a trace of the compressed and canned meat.

Milwaukee got quite a scare a few years ago when Bryant's, 1579 S. 9th St., closed after the death of its long-time owner Carl Malmberg. Thankfully, John Dye revived the place soon after. OnMilwaukee.com readers voted the South Side institution Milwaukee's best lounge in the 2010 Best Bars & Clubs poll.
