Saturday Scorecard: Can they Pack get off the deck?
After losing a disappointing game last week in Tampa, the Packers face a virtual must-win contest against Dallas. The key to success, as always, will be the protection that the offensive line affords quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has been sacked 37 times this season. If Green Bay loses, will another grounds crew worker be fired? Stay tuned.

Sunday Scorecard: Time to get rockin' in Cleveland
With a week remaining before Brett Favre's return to Lambeau Field with the Vikings, the Packers and Ryan Grant (pictured after a leap into the stands) get ready to play a road game against the Cleveland Browns, who are both awful and flu-ridden. We've got the basic info and some things to watch in that game, as well as comments about the Bucks and a healthy dose of the Larry King Lounge.

Green Bay Replay: Packers 26, Lions 0
As is often the case, the scoreboard doesn't tell the whole story. The Packers won the game comfortably, but their performance was anything but pristine.

Green Bay Replay: Vikings 30, Packers 23
A whole lot of Packers fans watched Brett Favre perform on "Monday Night Football" and were overcome by waves of nostalgia. Decked out in Vikings purple and performing before a shrieking throng in the Metrodome, Favre shredded the Packers defense and led his team to a 30-23 victory that was far more convincing than the final score indicates.

Green Bay Replay: Bengals 31, Packers 24
The last-second victory over Chicago in the season opener could have been a wakeup call for the Packers. Apparently, it wasn't. The Packers' upset loss to Cincinnati was marked by sloppy execution, penalties, injuries and -- perhaps -- a sense of overconfidence. With their offensive line jumbled by injury and ineptitude, the Packers will scramble to pick up the pieces before traveling to St. Louis next Sunday.

Packers prepare to embrace change on defense
Ever since coach Mike McCarthy hired 3-4 expert Dom Capers as the team's new defensive coordinator on Jan. 18, the club has been emphasizing that the change in defensive philosophy isn't as overwhelming as one might assume. But based on what Pittsburgh Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert and new Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz said Thursday, it sure sounds like the change is going to be harder than the Packers have been willing to admit.

Green Bay Replay: Packers 31, Lions 21
The Packers capped a disappointing season with a nerve-wracking, tougher-than-it-needed-to-be victory over the horrendous Detroit Lions. The memory of the game will fade quickly as Green Bay takes steps to improve on its 6-10 record.

Kapinos will get his kicks as new Packers punter
Given how badly Derrick Frost performed this season, the Packers have set the bar pretty low for new punter Jeremy Kapinos, whom the team chose over three other punters Wednesday. "I want him to punt the ball in the right direction," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "I'm expected to win games. He's expected to punt the ball in the right direction. I'm not trying to be funny."

The jury is still out on whether "A-Rodg" is "A-OK"
A good quarterback can lift a team. A great one can carry a team. A bad one can drag it down. A horrible one can sink a team. It's tough to say where Aaron Rodgers belongs on the scale, but many Packers fans -- not to mention the front office and coaching staff -- seem blind to the flaws he has shown as a first-year starter.

Saturday Scorecard: It was nice knowin' ya, CC
Diehard Brewers fans can uncross their fingers and step away from the rabbit's feet and four-leaf clovers. Chances of the Brewers retaining CC Sabathia evaporated when the Yankees reportedly offered the ace lefty a six-year, $140 million contract. Milwaukee fans will be left with the wonderful memories of Sabathia's 18 games, 134 1/3 innings, 537 batters faced and 1,979 pitches.

Packers trying to "spread the wealth" on defense
With four linebackers, three safeties and three cornerbacks worthy of starting assignments, Packers and coach Mike McCarthy is exercising his options when it comes to doling out playing time. "It's a great problem to have," McCarthy said. "You cannot have enough good football players

It may only be one game in the standings, but the difference between 5-3 and 4-4 in the National Football League is significant. Just ask the Packers, who fell to the latter mark after suffering a deflating defeat in a road game Sunday afternoon against unbeaten Tennessee.

The top five Wisconsin sports stories in October
The top sports story of September is a no-brainer. The Brewers' roller coaster ride to the post-season as the National League Wild Card is an easy choice. After blowing a 5 ½-game lead, the Brewers went down to the last game on Sunday, won by a great pitching performance by CC Sabathia and a clutch home run by Ryan Braun.
