The older I get, the more I seem to hear people refer to New Year's Eve as "amateur night." I'm not offended by this, but I'm perplexed and concerned about the lack of a celebratory spirit.

The Harlem Globetrotters are also one of the best New Year's Eve traditions in Milwaukee and world renown everywhere. This Dec. 31 they will once again be playing a pair of "games" against their longtime rivals, the Washington Generals, at the Bradley Center. The first game starts at 1 p.m. and the second game tips off at 6 p.m.

As I get older, New Year's Eve seems to have less and less of a draw. It's a magical holiday filled with expectations and anticipation, whether it's who you're going to kiss at midnight or what the New Year will hold.
