Target's left the market somewhat wide open since it doesn't have a store that's truly convenient for residents of Downtown Milwaukee, the East Side, Shorewood and Whitefish Bay. The new Walgreen's at 4041 Oakland Ave. in Shorewood just may have captured this market as it feels like a mini Target.

I've said this before, but I like the Grand Avenue Mall. It's an easy lunch destination for Downtown workers, and it still has a lot of unrealized potential. It saddens me that most have written it off for dead, and I wish the City or the owners would provide a serious incentive for a few major anchor stores to come and stay for a while.
