Rapid review: Rip Tide Seafood Bar & Grill
Today's at-a-glance restaurant review focuses on Rip Tide Seafood Bar & Grill. The patio is closed for the season, but indoors, the fish is still frying.

Where should I take the kid for crab legs?
I bought a package fake crab for my kid, but as a budding young foodie he declared, "That's not crab." Where should I take him for the real deal?

Scouting report: The Anchorage
A recent scouting visit to The Anchorage, 4700 N. Port Washington Rd., proved once again that in Milwaukee, not all hotel restaurants are created equal. Though the restaurant is housed within a Hilton Hotel, don't expect standard hotel restaurant fare here.

Molly Cool's takes a hot spot on the river
Located at 1110 N. Old World 3rd St., Molly Cool's Seafood Tavern recently opened in the space formerly occupied by high end steakhouses Kincaid's and Third Street Pier. Serving the same culinary specialty of seafood and steak, Molly Cool's takes it down a notch with a much more casual, southern style atmosphere.

Milwaukee's best seafood, 2008: Crawdaddy's
The dining room at Crawdaddy's is large, bright and noisy enough to bring large dining parties and create the kind of rollicking atmosphere befitting a Cajun-influenced establishment. And it's your favorite seafood in Milwaukee!

Kincaid's menu is both easy and adventurous
With a new sign emblazed on the Downtown skyline, Kincaid's, 1110 N. Old World 3rd St., opened its doors in a space that for many years harbored Third Street Pier.

Coast's view, seafood savvy fare worth a visit
Situated in O'Donnell Park, Coast, 931 E. Wisconsin Ave., has a dining room that is quite literally a room with a view. It's actually one of the best views -- the lake and the surrounding green spaces that make O'Donnell Park so very stunning -- at any Milwaukee restaurant.

Family owned Carini's is a neighborhood mainstay
As a neighborhood mainstay, it is nice to have a family owned, simple Italian restaurant with good, reasonably priced options for the locals.

Crawdaddy's a fun place for varying palates
The first thing I noticed about Crawdaddy's was how impossibly large the menu was, but they succeed in coupling a fun atmosphere with food for people with varying palates.

Crabbing at Las Palmas
Scott and I ventured out to Las Palmas in West Allis, 1901 S 60th St., on the recommendation of a friend who said they had “the best crab legs in town.”

Maxie's Southern Comfort mixes down-home food and hospitality
When you think New Orleans cuisine, intuition may not lead you down 68th Street. If local owner Dan Sidner has any say, Milwaukeeans will find their favorite New Orleans and Southern-influenced seafood at Maxie's.

Lakefront dining landmark needs a boost
Pieces of Eight is the only restaurant in the city proper that sits directly on beautiful Lake Michigan, and the view here is in one word, incomparable. But it struggles with food quality, service and some housekeeping issues that tainted our dining experiences.

Upscale casual Bonefish also welcomes wee ones
Having recently eaten at Devon Seafood Grill, where the ambience is decidedly adult and kids were scarce, I made a reservation for two plus a toddler at the new Bonefish Grill, 18355 W. Bluemound Rd. in Brookfield, with some trepidation. But I was assured that Bonefish is kid-friendly.

Devon Seafood Grill gets it right
Sure, Devon is a chain and sure it’s located in a mall – two things that usually keep us away – but in seafood-starved Milwaukee fresh fish at a reasonable price and in a warm, comfortable setting is the right equation for getting us to return.
