I was more excited to get a slice of cheesecake on my 21st birthday than to drink an alcoholic beverage. I've never been much of a drinker, but that doesn't mean I won't be celebrating bar month in Milwaukee. This February, try some great foods with your brews. I've prepared a list of my favorites.

Driving down Greenfield Avenue last week I spied the sign outside Paulie's Pub and Eatery, 8031 W. Greenfield Ave., in West Allis, and was reminded that trying the wings there was on my Milwaukee to-do list. Despite that salad in the fridge back at the office, I called an audible and pulled into the parking lot. Only when I sat down did I realize that it was Friday, which, of course, means fish fry. What to do? Well, improvise!

Denver restaurateur, Brian Culligan, and his brother and executive chef, Michael Culligan, recently completed renovations on the former Tastings building at 315 N. Main St. in West Bend. The new restaurant is called West Bend Tap and Tavern.

At the east end of the Lincoln Avenue Pizza Strip sits Happy Tap, 6801 W. Beloit Rd. I've driven past it dozens of times, curious about the signs on the building advertising "original thin crust pizza."

One look at the menu at Two Bucks, which replaced Dogs Bollocks at 2321 N. Murray Ave., and I thought, "my lead is shot." While I expected to be able to report back to you that like the creators of "The Never Ending Story," the people behind "Two Bucks" would be guilty of misleading the public. C'mon, what could cost $2 in 2012? You'd be surprised and so was I ... pleasantly.
