Bay View's first hotel - the dog-friendly microhotel in the former Down and Under Pub building at 2535 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.- is slated to open in January. Co-owner Charles Bailey invited us in yesterday to take a first look.

Hamburger Mary's will bid adieu to its Bay View location and reopen in snazzy new digs at 730 S. 5th St. on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Please note that, during its first week in the new location, Hamburger Mary's will be open for dinner only.

Five years ago, we first told you about Izzy Jaecks, the now full-time shoeshiner at Stag Barbershop, 3064 S. Delaware Ave. In 2011, it was a once-a-week gig for the former Miss International Bootblack, but now Jaecks is as part of the shop as are its barbers.
