Coming out of high school Keifer Sykes would look at the recruiting rankings -- and have to scroll down a ways before seeing his name. While he was buried in what turned out to be one of the greatest classes to ever come out of the state of Illinois, Sykes used it as motivation at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. The Packers are winning. So are the Badgers (in football and basketball). Melvin Gordon! The Bucks are relevant. As Wisconsin-based fans, we are seeing our teams have both local and national relevance. And it cannot be ignored.

Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon will likely play the final home game of his career on Saturday, and in doing so he may set several Big Ten rushing records, and in doing so, he may lead the Badgers into a conference championship game. So why does it feel like he's really all that matters, even if the Badgers play in two more games?
