A foot of what??
I've become pretty good at tuning out the warnings of giant snowstorms, since more times than not, blizzards turn out to be flurries, and deluges give way to dustings. So, when I woke up to a foot of snow this morning, I must say, I was stunned.

The TV weather folks are already going crazy with predictions of imminent doom as the first significant snowfall of the season begins its assault on Milwaukee. But as you sit glued to the set or making peace with your creator as the white plague descends from the sky, you may want to double-check your parking spot.

Forecasters are calling for somewhere between five and eight inches of snow today. The author is feeling cocky because this year, unlike the past few years, his snowblower started right away.

I'm guessing that I wasn't the only person who got stuck a few times driving home from work last night. For me, my car stopped moving near an intersection outside my office, and again a block from home.
