Craig Finn may be best known as the lead singer of the indie rock band The Hold Steady, but in the past few years, he's shown that was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his songwriting talents. Prior to his performance at the Cactus Club on Friday night, I talked with him about The Hold Steady opening for one of his favorite bands The Replacements, his growing confidence as a solo artist and why Milwaukee is a special place for him.

Leo Minor is a relatively faint constellation up in the northern sky that comprises an array of 37 distant stars. Closer to home Leo Minor is a nom de bass of local veteran musician Jason Todd. Though this Leo Minor is just one star, it draws on a vast array of musical influences. The latest result of the ongoing project is a white label vinyl 7" 45.

Moon Duo is well accomplished for a young band. Having formed in just 2009, it already stands with five albums under its belt. Each album has maintained that fine line between adrenaline-fueled and rhythmic ADHD, creating an addictive quality also found in the duo's lyrical value.
