A plan emerged last year to bring new life to the Prospect Mall on the East Side. Developer Robert Joseph is tearing the building - erected in 1912 as a Pierce-Arrow automobile dealership - down to the bones to create first floor retail and parking, with a four-story residential tower perched diagonally on the roof. We got a peek inside yesterday.

Less than a half hour north of the city limits on I-43, Cedarburg is a hidden gem of dining in the Milwaukee area. It's magnificently easy to navigate since most of the best places are located on Washington Avenue, Cedarburg's idyllic main drag. Here is one local's suggested itinerary.

After I did it a couple of months ago, I had a lot of people who I met on the street tell me how much they appreciated my "Milwaukee people who should be famous" column. As I am always interested in making people happy (insert laughter here) here comes "They should be famous, Part II." And again, this list is not comprehensive. It's just a few people who should be getting more fame than they've gotten. Some I know, some I don't.

The Chocolate Factory Subs & Ice Cream Parlor inside The Shops of Grand Avenue, 275 W. Wisconsin Ave., will soon move to a new Elm Grove location.

I walk past the Prospect Mall nearly every day. And when I do, I can't help but regret that such a high-profile corner of the East Side is sitting vacant. Put on your thinking caps Milwaukee and tell me your great ideas for the Prospect Mall.
