Styx's Summerfest set shows they can still rock it

On our way home from seeing Styx at the BMO Harris Pavilion Thursday night at Summerfest, I asked my husband what he thought of the show. "It was great. They're always great." And I have to say, he's right.

Milwaukee radio veteran Steve Palec is a busy man. In addition to hosting "Rock and Roll Roots" every Sunday on 96.5 FM WKLH, he also hosts a weeknight show Monday through Fridays called "Legends of Rock" on the station. On top of that, Palec holds a "real" job in commercial real estate as a senior vice president at CB Richard Ellis.

Reading Andy Tarnoff's Milwaukee Talks with veteran Milwaukee DJ and classic rock guru Steve Palec -- during bar month -- got me thinking about how before the advent of Internet jukeboxes, classic rock seemed to almost invariably rule at bars of almost every stripe in Milwaukee.
