Rapid review: Club Charlies
Club Charlies opened earlier this year to give Third Ward workers and residents another spot for casual dinner and drinks. Framed by a front wall of floor to ceiling windows, this is a great summer time hang out with cool breezes and plenty of light.

Milwaukee's best new restaurant, 2009: Honeypie
Opening in May 2009, Honeypie Café re-claimed the Bay View space formerly occupied by Annona Bistro. The home-style eatery is a joint effort by restaurateurs Scott Johnson, Leslie Montemurro and Adam and Val Luck.

Javino perks up Third Ward with wine and coffee
Javino -- a wine and coffee bar that will open in May at 303 E. Menomonee St. -- is the latest venture of husband-and-wife duo Lee Barczak and Jane Schilz. The couple plans to open a second Javino in Bay View -- possibly inside the Avalon Theater building -- before the end of 2009.

Charlies bar aims to bring good times to Third Ward
Dawn and Craig Bloomfield describe themselves as "professional bar hoppers" who dreamed of opening their own lounge, so when the opportunity came along, the couple jumped at it. They hope to open their bar and restaurant, called Club Charlies, on April 15.
