A trip to the Original Pancake House brought back fond memories of the Coffee Trader, and I remember one day most vividly. It was the day, back in the summer of 1994, when I discovered coffee.

The Original Pancake House, 2621 N. Downer Ave., opened for business on Monday, May 29. The space -- which is known by many Milwaukeeans as "the old Coffee Trader" -- underwent major renovations to accommodate the cozy breakfast eatery.
