According to a report from Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service, the Milwaukee Common Council's decision to lower the maximum fine for marijuana possession of less than 25 grams to $50 has drawn praise as a first step to reducing racial disparities in enforcement of marijuana laws, as well as criticism for its potential to increase marijuana use.

Penalties for pot smoking reduced while a strip club still prohibited

The City of Milwaukee has reduced the penalties for first-time possession of marijuana from $500 to $50. Pot is still illegal. A strip club is perfectly legal but the aldermen appear willing to get nailed for an almost $1 million judgement after losing a lawsuit. Doesn't seem to make much sense.

Bauman's "One Percent Solution" for arena heads to committee Monday

A resolution calling on the state legislature to enact a one percent sales tax in Milwaukee County to fund a new NBA arena Downtown - as well as other recreational, cultural and transit needs - will get a committee hearing on Monday, sponsor Ald. Robert Bauman said.
