It's easy to complain about highway construction in Milwaukee. After all, it's pretty much a constant. When one project finishes, another begins ... if we're lucky. More often, it seems like every interchange or stretch of freeway is being worked on all at once.

Perhaps you've noticed that sometimes the Lincoln Memorial Drive ramp to head west on I-794 is open and sometimes it's closed, leading you to enter just to the west at Jackson Street. Well, that Jackson Street entrance is closing now and there are other changes kicking in as part of the work on the Hoan and 794.

No doubt many of you have heard some version of the joke about Wisconsin only having two seasons: winter and construction. People still let the occasional - and understandable - gripe loose, but for the most part, we do the proper thing: suck it up and deal. For all the supposed tolerance we have for this condition of our commute, though, we as drivers seem to have an awful time playing nice on the roads when the orange barrels come out.

Wow. Didn't know my own power. Less than two hours after I tweeted "Lots of obstacles around City Hall," we received a news release from City Hall.
