Alaskan salmon travels over 2,000 miles to get to the Milwaukee market. It's at least five days before a fish like salmon enters the marketplace, and that's even with modern air freight and overnight flights. When you consider that salmon has a shelf-life of about eight days, that doesn't bode well for freshness. But, companies like Sitka Salmon Shares are working to change that.
