My two-year anniversary at OnMilwaukee.com is coming up in March, but I'm still finding new things to experience in and around Milwaukee, and "firsts" are always a lot of fun. I spent my first New Year's Eve in the Cream City this week, and it was a lot more fun than I expected.

The bulk of my New Year's Eve was spent at the Oriental Theatre, checking out the Dead Man's Carnival for the first time. Despite the buzz, we managed to capture a pretty good video of the best two minutes of the show.

For anyone looking for something other than live music or watching the big ball drop on New Year's Eve, the Dead Man's Carnival - a Milwaukee-based vaudevillian, circus and burlesque show - might be an appealing alternative.

But during the summer, so much is going on in Milwaukee every night of the week, it's almost impossible not to consider the long list of choices for your Friday and Saturday night.
