Milwaukee artist Ray Chi wins East Library art commission

Today, The Milwaukee Public Library announced the commission award for a public art installation outside the new East Branch, currently under construction. Milwaukee multimedia artist Ray Chi has been selected to create the art project on North Cramer Street and East North Avenue that will reflect the ideas of community, literature, storytelling and learning.


Two artists selected for East Library's public art project

The Milwaukee Public Library announced the two artists commissioned to create two public art installations in the East Library, which is currently being remodeled. The two winning local artists are Santiago Cucullu and kathryn e. martin.

The Milwaukee Public Library's Public Art Selection Committee will hold a meeting on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. to hear presentations by the five finalists selected to develop public art concepts for the new East Branch.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, neighborhood Ald. Nik Kovac and Milwaukee Public Library Director Paula Kiely will break ground on the new East Library, Tuesday, July 30 at 1:30 p.m.
