They aren't old enough to legally smoke, drink or even drive. If "This Is Spinal Tap" was in theaters, they wouldn't be able to see it without their parents, and if you add together the ages of all five band members, the quintet's combined age (63) would still be younger than Sir Paul McCartney (72). But while most kids' dreams of rock glory only go as far as that - dreams - Mad RED Kat has already started acting on its aspirations, forming a band and playing gigs across the city.

Despite a few half-finished walls and the shell, there was little to see but drawings and a few nascent details. A quick peek last month showed quite a bit of progress, but nothing quite like how the place looked when we got a tour last week from branch manager Rachel Collins.

The Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) today released a Request for Proposal (RFP) to seek proposals from developers who want to partner on a mixed-use development for the Forest Home or Mill Road branch libraries. This follows a Request for Interest (RFI), which was released in August of this year and resulted in several viable submissions.

Taking the first step towards identifying potential real estate development partners to build mixed-use buildings featuring a library on the first level, Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) is asking real estate developers to submit information on current and potential projects that could be compatible with a library near four neighborhood libraries slated for replacement.

Library director Paula Kiely called The Standard a "new, modern library structure ... which is really state of the art when it comes to public libraries." Yesterday, Milwaukee Public Library hosted a media walk-through of the library space and developer HSI Properties took everyone upstairs to see one of the apartments, too.
