Though "Salutations" is the first CD by Milwaukee-based electronic musician Manual Controller - whose family calls him Paul Schwarzkopf - Schwarzkopf isn't new to the scene. He says the record, "has been a dream of mine since I was 8," and his road to making it began with him behind the drum kit, making more traditional music with groups like Mokpoi, Calumet and Turpentine.

After Matt Muente moved from Saukville to Milwaukee four years ago, he started going to rave parties and underground clubs. Inspired by a Chicago club, he used the same name for his record shop, Industry, which opened two years ago this month.

Paul Amitai is a fixture on the Milwaukee scene and has been for a decade now. So, it might come as a surprise that Amitai is just now releasing his first solo CD, "River of Shadows." What's not unexpected is that the disc is as wide-ranging as Amitai's musical career to date.
