Most new parents are in need of information and support, but for LGBTQ families, it's not as easy to connect with same-sex moms and dads who are knowledgeable about issues specific to their households. Recently, Laurie Marks and Joseph Brooks changed that with the launching of Miltown LGBT Families.

I don't work in the summers so money is much tighter. But I've also learned it's pretty easy to find yourself buying tickets or paying admission prices to keep the kids entertained as the season wears on. Those costs can add up quickly and they aren't really necessary if you are willing to think ahead, pack a picnic or spend some time outdoors.
So far this year, we've tried a few things and here are our favorite examples of free Milwaukee fun.

Who knew? Havenwoods State Forest is Wisconsin's only urban state forest, and offers over 200 acres of natural wildlife and woodlands. The Nature Center is buzzing with live reptiles, a "Books in Your Backyard" nature library, and free events for kids and families all year round.
