Recent history -- not to mention the calendar -- might create some skepticism today, but various news outlets around the National Football League are reporting that Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre is going to retire for the third time. Apparently, his surgically-repaired left ankle has not responded well during summer workouts.

Just when you thought it was safe to turn on ESPN... The Worldwide Leader has another Brett Favre story to overreact to and over-report. Favre had surgery to repair damage to his ankle, which makes it seem very likely that he's coming back for another season in Minnesota. Of course, he won't say that right away.
