The Alley Cat Lounge, located on the second floor of the Five O'Clock Steakhouse, formerly named Coerper's Five O'Clock Club, opened in the late '40s as a VIP lounge. Back then, customers could enter the lounge through the restaurant or by a private alley entrance complete with an unmarked door and a buzzer. This Friday, after months of renovations, the Alley Cat Lounge will reopen - sans the private entrance and the buzzer.

For five straight years, Milwaukee's beef lovers have chosen the Five O'Clock Steak House as their favorite place for steak. It's easy to see why. The classic steakhouse at 2416 W. State St., has been serving up delicious cuts for years - back when it was Coerper's Five O'Clock Club - in a classy, throwback style reminiscent of a '50s supper club.

The OnMilwaukee.com carnivores made it clear that the Five O'Clock Steak House -- formerly Coerper's -- is still the best place in town to eat steak. Carnevor and Eddie Martini's came in second and third place.
