The other day I wrote a blog post about some foods I miss and some folks wrote in with comments. One comment, recommending fried clams, came in an e-mail, from my colleague Dave Begel.

Over our mediocre bagels this morning, Andy Tarnoff and I got talking about how while Milwaukee has things that are round and look and taste a little like bagels, we lack a really great bagel. That made me think about some foods I wish I could get here more readily.

Sometimes the outward signs at a restaurant can be deceiving. Take Mason Street Grill, located in The Pfister Hotel, for example. It might not seem like a place for little diners, but on a recent visit we learned that's absolutely untrue.
