Video gambling a game of chance for bar owners
Walk into just about any bar in Milwaukee and you'll be sure to find a video poker machine. Even though signs clearly state the games are for "entertainment purposes only," players at some establishments have a chance to win big bucks. The state's Department of Revenue, which regulates the video gaming industry, is watching.

NBA should roll the dice on Las Vegas
Now that the National Basketball Association has thrown an All-Star Game in Las Vegas, perhaps Commissioner David Stern and the owners will "do the math" and realize that putting a team in Sin City makes sense.

Potawatomi expansion back on track
Potawatomi spokesman Ken Walsh tells us that the long-awaited $240 million expansion of the existing tribal casino will soon get underway. "It should start to look like a construction site this month," Walsh said of the site at the east end of the valley, on property just south of Canal Street.

Battles waged over Kenosha casino plan
The failure of the state Legislature Wednesday to override Gov. Jim Doyle's veto of their oversight of casino sitings makes the odds much better that Kenosha will someday get a casino, proponents say.
