Since 2007, OnMilwaukee.com readers have given the title of Milwaukee's finest Greek food to Oakland Gyros. It seems their plentiful portions of tasty gyros, spinach pies and much more have captured Milwaukee's heart for lunch, dinner or late-night noshing.

The cleverly named American Euros cart hit the streets of Milwaukee in July 2009, and has been going strong ever since. A brick and mortar shop opens today at 3133 N. Oakland Ave.

One of the problems with Milwaukee in the winter is that it isn't summer and all those festivals aren't around every weekend. A Taste of Greece will take place at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Saturday and Sunday.

They're known as the "hot dog hotties," but they're not selling hot dogs. Like the late-night Downtown hot dog vendors, Mark Miller and Chad Mydlowski sell hot food to the hungry masses from a small cart. Only, rather than wieners, they're pushing gyros.
