At the Haggerty Museum of Art on the Marquette University campus, which runs a number of shows concurrently, the exhibitions are digestible and varied. You can get your arms around them and really focus and imbibe. At the moment, there are four shows on view, three of which opened together last week and all of which close on July 28.

Speedies' "Let Me Take Your Photo" was a little new wave-era gem with a super-catchy chorus. The title also turned out to be somewhat prescient as guitarist Greg Crewdson would later grow into one of the most respected photographers in the world. Crewdson comes to Marquette to present a lecture this week.

There's an art explosion on the Marquette campus where the Haggerty Museum of Art recently opened four exhibitions that all run through May 19. On a recent visit, I most enjoyed Milwaukee photographer Kevin Miyazaki's "Perimeter," which is in a small gallery just inside the entrance.

After serving as interim associate curator at Marquette University's Haggerty Museum of Art since July, Emilia P. Layden was recently named to the position permanently. We caught up with the New Orleans native to see how she enjoys living in Milwaukee and her plans for upcoming shows at the museum.

American photographer Tom Arndt's photo series, "July 4th, Little Italy, NY," doesn't necessarily capture what it seem to depict. Sixteen of the monochromatic images are on display now in an exhibition at Marquette University's Haggerty Museum, through Aug. 5.
