Do a Google search for "1920s baseball crowd" and you'll find some wonderful things: The innocence of a bygone era, a haunting reminder of our mortality and a lot of guys wearing hats. Hats, for crying out loud.

On May 7, Bay View will welcome The Brass Rooster, a new hat and accessories store for men. The shop, at 2479 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., will stock hats of all kinds, including pork pie, derby, bowler, fedoras, newsboys, felt, straw and more.

Perhaps you have noticed the large building on the west side of I-43 near Downtown with the words "Hats Caps" on the facade. The business has been around for three decades and it's called City Life Boutique, 1325 N. 12th St.

Following up on the success of the pink caps that raised $1 million for breast cancer research last year, the Packers and American Family Insurance are teamming up to sell red caps this year. Some proceeds to to heart disease research.
