Expanded Hmong market to offer two floors of shopping, 90 vendors

It started with a couple carts of food on the sidewalk in front of an old auto shop six years ago. Now, according to a report from Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service, Phongsavan Market, an Hmong market on the city's northwest side that houses 20 Asian-themed vendors, will open a new 84,000-square-foot building in November just south of its current home at 6300 N. 76th St.

A pilgrimage to Ellis Island

The sun is shining and New York’s glass wall of towers is glistening. The harbor is alive with activity: Coast Guard boats with machine guns mounted, police helicopters, the Staten Island Ferry has just left Manhattan. Here in Battery Park, there is a long line waiting to get to Liberty Island and Ellis Island.
