Texas is a big, big state, with ribbons of roads that run forever and don't seem to go anyplace. That description of the state would also be a fitting description for "1959 Pink Thunderbird," the awkward, Texas-based season finale for In Tandem that opened Friday night and runs through May 18.

"Chesapeake" by Lee Blessing draws its title from a Chesapeake retriever that plays an integral role in the story. But the production truly belongs to Matt Daniels, the actor who brings alive a string of disparate characters, all of whom have a role in this discussion of the value of art.

There are a couple of guarantees when you set off to search for the truth. One is that it can be elusive. Another is that not everybody may be happy with your search. The final thing is there is often a good chance that once you find the truth, you may well realize that life would be much better if you had just left well enough alone.

Crowds love "A Cudahy Caroler Christmas," being staged for the seventh time by In Tandem. And the reason they are staging it again is clear - this one makes money for the small organization. But, I can find almost nothing about this play that is meaningful or interesting or even entertaining.

It will probably never replace "A Christmas Carol" as a Milwaukee tradition, but "A Cudahy Caroler Christmas" comes close with a legion of loyal followers. The musical, by Anthony Wood, opens Nov. 30 at In Tandem Theatre.
