Over the past decade it seems as though half the East Side has moved down to Bay View, so perhaps its fitting that a neighborhood music festival is following suit. After six concerts over three years, Milwaukee Jazz Vision is moving its "Eastside Jazzfest" to Tonic Tavern, the Highbury Pub, Club Garibaldi and Studio Lounge, as the Bay View Jazz Fest makes its debut during Bay View Gallery Night.

Trumpeter Jamie Breiwick is a tireless promoter of jazz in Milwaukee. He is also a prolific performer, too. On top of that, he releases recordings - as a leader, as a sideman and with his group Choirfight - at a pace that recalls the golden age of jazz record labels. His latest disc is called "Spirits" and was recorded, like many of his works, at the Jazz Estate on Murray Avenue, back in November.

If news that local jazz musician and organizer Jamie Breiwick has yet another new release comes as a bit of a shock, you're not alone. The ever-occupied, constantly creating Breiwick is a musical force of nature. His new record, "Music of Thelonious Monk: Friday the 13th," is available only as a free download. Breiwick says the release wasn't something he planned.

It seems kinda hard to believe, but when Hudson plays at The Estate Friday night at 9:30, it will be the first time any of the band's long-standing members - Matt Liban, Bryan Mir, Paul Jonas and Matt Meixner - have played the East Side club.

A long-time name in the Milwaukee jazz scene is trumpeter Jamie Breiwick. Breiwick released his latest album today, an effort called "Serenity." On "Serenity," Breiwick puts his warm and passionate take on compositions from names like Henry Mancini, Thelonius Monk, Donald Byrd, Miles Davis and others, with the help of pianist Barry Velleman.
