Last year we asked a group of local music scene movers and shakers what ended up in the "Top 25 Most Played" playlist in their iTunes and got some great responses. So we decided to ask more local musicians - industry cats - what rocked their musical worlds in 2012.

If you follow local music you can't possibly have missed that Juniper Tar released a new record in recent weeks. "Since Before" is now available and it was worth the wait. The vinyl version is an elaborate package befitting the powerful music inside. We got a chance to ask singer and guitarist Jason Mohr about it.

Most everyone knows that we are extremely fond of Old Crow bourbon, and over the past seven years we've accumulated enough Old Crow bottles to build a small hut. Last night was, however, the first time that we'd ever been asked to sign one! Yeah, it was one of those nights.

Like points on a map or compass points, the Juniper Tar documentary, "Points of Interest," uses drops flags on a tour by the Milwaukee band and lets viewers connect the dots.

When Juniper Tar, delayed the release of its new EP recently, the public was told that it was due to an injury to a band member. Later, I found out that Jason Mohr suffered a traumatic brain injury while sledding in Humboldt Park. Like many, I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the release gig was back on for Thursday, Feb. 18 at Club Garibaldi.
