People of the Glass House earn Summerfest gig

With an array of interesting melodies and rush arrangements, a Green Bay-based group called People of the Glass House rose above a tough field to win the annual "Battle of the Bands" during Downtown Employee Appreciation Week and -- in the process -- won a coveted berth in the Summerfest 2011 lineup.

Mi-Key's to host American Cancer Society benefit

Mi-Key's, 811 N. Jefferson St., is presenting "The Kick Off to Summer," a benefit for the American Cancer Society, at 8 p.m. Thursday. The program, which will take place in the Skylight Room, features The Color Truth, Jayk and comedian Wes Shaver. There will be complimentary appetizers and Absolut Vodka drink specials.

Milwaukee gets mobbed

David Silbaugh and Roger Jansen have been promoting, auditioning and working for months to bring MOBFest to Milwaukee. And the time is finally here. MOBFest, a Chicago original, is a one day event highlighting local and regional musical talent. A process running over the last few months, bands were globally encouraged to submit demo tapes and participate in the selection process of six significant bands.
