MU, Badgers break hearts and brackets in Boise

Published March 23, 2009

There is no joy in Mudville and, as of yesterday, no college basketball in Wisconsin. Marquette and Wisconsin both exited the stage at Taco Bell Arena, breaking hearts and brackets across the land while making sports fans look forward to the start of the Brewers' regular season. Marquette lost to Missouri; the Badgers lost their game with Xavier.

Marquette survives a scare against Utah State

Published March 20, 2009

The tension was palpable inside the Marquette Union Sports Annex. Published March 14, 2009

Someday, when people talk about Marquette's senior class of 2009, the only stat that will matter is 92: the number of games McNeal, James, Wes Matthews and Dwight Burke combined to win in their four years on Wisconsin Ave.

Don't count out Marquette just yet

Published March 1, 2009

They were undersized. They had a short bench. They had a no-name coach. Yet, Marquette showed its critics that it had the moxie to be a March contender. Many of those same critics were quick to write off the Golden Eagles when point guard Dominic James broke his foot. Yet, despite a pair of losses, Marquette still could be a dangerous force when the Big East and NCAA Tournaments kick off later this month.
