Saturday Scorecard: Jeffress has control issue
Brewers pitching prospect Jeremy Jeffress, a first-round draft pick in 2006, was demoted from Class AA Huntsville to Class A Brevard County this season because he couldn't control his fastball. Unfortunately for Jeffress and the Brewers, his control problems don't end on the field. Jeffress, a first-round draft pick in 2006, will face a 100-game suspension for failing a second test for "a drug of abuse."

Brewers Notebook: Sounding a call to arms
The Brewers returned to respectability -- and the post-season -- with a bumper crop of home-grown talent. But while Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, J.J. Hardy, Corey Hart, Bill Hall and Mat Gamel have added some wallop to the Milwaukee lineup, the organization has come up empty when it comes to developing pitchers. When the 2009 MLB draft kicks off Tuesday, the Brewers are expected to focus on arms.

Saturday Scorecard: Yost faces uncertain future
As Labor Day weekend dawns, Brewers manager Ned Yost finds himself at a professional crossroads. If his team plays well in the final month, his job will be secure. If the club continues a losing trend that started in July, he could be out of a job.
