Do something great and we adore our heroes with shouts, screams and applause. We care and we show we care. What are we to do when they screw something up? We care about them just as much and ignoring their failure should not be part of this equation. Not caring is worse, much worse, than disapproving. We have to let them know that we who depend on them so much are disappointed.

The Brewers should've won the game Wednesday, but John Axford blew a two-run lead in the eighth inning. Sitting close to the field, it was the first time I'd seen and heard the vitriol from fans around me. They booed him. A lot.

Over the last nine games, the Milwaukee Brewers are 9-0 - the team's longest winning streak since putting together 10 straight in 2003. One of the biggest reasons for this has been the turnaround of the bullpen, which has allowed just three runs in that time.

To the members of the Milwaukee Brewers bullpen, intangibles like momentum, like flow, are real things that affect the game - even if the standard cliché's of "one pitch at a time" and "you're only as good as the next pitcher" are trotted out time and again.

Milwaukee Brewers closer John Axford was booed off the field during the team's season-opening series against Colorado. It's a little premature for such an act.
