Lagniappe is literally translated as "a small gift given a customer by a merchant at purchase," and is used in the restaurant industry to denote superb service, or the act of going above and beyond.

Andy Tenaglia, the former executive chef for Miller Park, opened his own restaurant Monday with his wife, Mina, in New Berlin. Lagniappe Brasserie specializes in what Mina calls "French with a twist," and offers eclectic, continental fare.
