Last fall, the City of Milwaukee - with the cooperation of Milwaukee County - began its search for a design for the Lakefront Gateway Plaza, a 1.5 acre property in between the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Summerfest grounds and in front of Discovery World, with the mission to turn the area into a public plaza. The teams have been narrowed down to four, design ideas have been presented and now, the City is looking for citizens' feedback.

As much as I do enjoy other people, there are times I also love to be where they are not. One of these times was last winter - Milwaukee's coldest in about three decades - when I had reached my threshold for football and "Real Housewives" and living with 50 other people in one building, went down the hill, and took a walk on Bradford Beach along Lake Michigan. It was the most restorative thing I had done in a long time.

Both Northwestern Mutual and The Couture took steps forward today with Downtown development plans. Northwestern Mutual said it is looking to build a mixed use real estate space immediately west of its Downtown campus, while the County Board of Supervisors approved the lakefront development proposal for the 44-story Couture high-rise.
