Milwaukee is going to have a great deal of difficulty moving forward until we find a way to talk about race and to admit that there are problems and that we all need to work toward solving those problems. A big part of that is learning the code that you hear almost every day, a code that is the way people try to hide their prejudice or disquiet with people of another race. The code is used mostly by white people toward blacks and Latinos.

El Rey co-owner Ernesto Villarreal confirmed that his smallest supermercado, located at 1023 S. Cesar E. Chavez Dr., will close at the end of February or early March. Another large-scale El Rey will open in about six weeks.

Republicans sought to draw attention to the immigration issue in the hope of passing legislation to stem illegal immigration and return undocumented workers already here. But as Congress adjourned this fall, there was no movement on the issue, despite it dominating discussion during the last weeks of the session.
