Drag queen bingo to benefit LGBTQIA students

The UWM LGBT Alumni Chapter of the Alumni Association plans to start a scholarship fund for LGBTQIA students. To raise funds, a "drag queen bingo" benefit event is set for Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Hamburger Mary's in Bay View.


Milwaukee pride shines brightly

As hundreds of people went to the courthouse to embrace their right to get married and I see the efforts Pride Milwaukee has gone through to make sure we have this right, it makes me think of the pride that Milwaukeeans have in their city.


Lavender Graduation turns five

For the fifth year, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee LGBT Resource Center will celebrate its annual Lavender Graduation ceremony. "Lav Grad '14" will take place on Wednesday, May 14, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Union Wisconsin Room on the UWM campus.


Rethinking Schools book project nears funding goal

Milwaukee-based Rethinking Schools, a national social justice magazine for educators, recently launched an Indiegogo campaign to crowd-fund a new book called "Rethinking Sexism, Gender and Sexuality," due for 2015 publication. With five days of the campaign remaining, the project has already raised more than $15,000 of the $20,000 goal.
