Milwaukee was never a hotbed of lesbian bars, but from the '70s until recently there were always at least a few in operation at the same time. Now there seems to be one, possibly two, women's bars left in the city. The disappearance of lesbian bars is happening in other parts of the country, too. Why is this?

"Seance" channels pre-AIDS voices

In conjunction with World AIDS Day, Peter Mortensen conceived and directed a unique performance called "Seance: Signs of Life From Another Room." The show, presented by The Gay Arts Center, will take place next weekend in the Montage Cabaret located above La Cage night club, 801 S. 2nd St.
